While browsing a new blog, I stumbled upon this picture of Kourtney Kardasian and fell in love with this outfit. So much so, that I decided to recreate it. I chose to go with a dress instead of a romper because, for me, dresses are a lot less hassle and create more of a polished look. Also, my version of this outfit is a lot easier on the pocketbook :).
Though, I love this outfit because it is chic, I REALLY love this outfit because it is amazingly easy to pull together! All you need is a short dress/romper in a cute print, and a blazer - both things that most busy career girls have readily available in their closets. I wore this outfit to a last minute lunch date with a great friend and I was ready in a flash.
Even though there really aren't too many ways to go wrong with this, here are a couple of tricks that I use to make my dress-blazer combos pop.
- I pair my dresses/rompers with slightly longer jackets. Blazers that hit below the hip look a little more contemporary than their shorter counterparts.
- I match lighter colored dresses with a white blazer and darker colored dresses with a black blazer.
- I choose dresses in light materials. The harshness of a structured blazer is the perfect compliment to a soft feminine dress.
Easy as pie huh? Finish the look off with cute wedges, flats, or heels and you're out the door in no time.
What are some of your go-to outfits when you need to look polished in a rush?
Lots of Love
Jillian

ReplyDeleteA perfect recreation...thanks for the tips.
ReplyDeleteMy go-to outfit when I'm in a hurry is a thin cotton v-neck sweater, with skinny or boot-cut jeans, a scarf, & slip-on flats. Great tips! I don't think I've ever worn a blazer over a dress...will have to try it:)
ReplyDeleteLove how roomy your blazer is!
ReplyDeleteI actually do the opposite; dark colours with a white blazer, light colours with a dark blazer. I'm a stickler for contrast.
:)
