Dress: Kate Spade via Nordstrom Rack (SIMILAR)
Shoes: Steve Madden (HERE)
I absolutely adore lady-like dresses, am thoroughly obsessed with bows, and love everything striped. With those facts in mind, it's no wonder that I fell in love with this dress the moment I laid eyes on it. It's even more of a no-brainer when I throw in the added detail that this is the "Jillian" dress by Kate Spade. Now, I'm not sure who's in charge of naming the dresses at Kate Spade, but they hit the nail on the head this time. This dress captures the essence of this Jillian to a "T."
This dress is a 100% silk which means that even though it's a stunner in pictures, it will absolutely knock your socks off in person. Colors appear more vivid in silk and usually give off a subtle sheen. This sheen makes the dress appear to glow and is a guaranteed attention grabber. Silk dresses are one of my go-to's for work parties, baby showers, graduations, and any other situation where I need equal amounts of polish and pretty.
Though these dresses can get pricey, they are worth every penny. A silk dress, in a classic silhouette, can last a very long time and be worn on many occasions. Also, stores like Nordstrom Rack and sites like Gilt Group are a great option for finding these dresses at discounted prices.
I found these suede shoes while wondering around South Beach last week. I spotted them in the store window, went inside to try them on, and got all the way to the register before I figured out that they were on clearance. I felt like I'd won the LOTTO! These beauties were originally $100, but I ended up taking them home for $63. If you love them as much as I do, you can get them in a variety of colors HERE
Between the rain, humidity, and wind my hair didn't stand a chance. So, instead of frying it into submission, I pulled it into a ponytail and let it do as it pleased. Hey, sometimes you've gotta let your hair run the show.
All in all, I loved this look and had a great time at the baby shower that I wore it to. How did you guys spend the weekend?
