Paper-Bag Shorts + Cut-Outs

Top: BCX, Shorts: XOXO (Similar), Shoes: Sam Edelman, Trench: Forever 21

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve definitely seen these shorts before. I can’t help it, but I’ve practically been living in them. They are just too comfy to resist, and go from casual to dressy in an instant. Not to mention they're probably the only thing stopping me from going into a full blown heat shock. It is amazingly H-O-T in Miami now.
It’s really odd how much I like these shorts because I’m usually not a shorts type of person. However, things are different now that I’ve started wearing these “paper-bag” type shorts. Unlike their shorter and tighter counterparts, these “paper-bag” shorts are roomier through the leg. They also have a tie-waist, which allows me to wear them as high or low as I would like. For me, this gives a more universally flattering look.
I’m also developing a huge obsession with cut-outs. I’ll admit, cut-outs can be a little risqué, but a well placed cut-out can add a bit of subtle sexy to an outfit. My favorites are shoulder cut-outs and lower back cut-outs. The trick to pulling off the look is making sure that you're not showing too much skin or any private parts through your cut-outs (trust me I’ve seen it).
Well, it looks like I may be headed to Atlanta this weekend for the Style Bloggers of Color Conference. YAY!!!! Are any of you guys going? If so, I can't wait to see you when I touch town. :)
Love,
Jillian

  5. These shorts are very, as you mention, versatile. I love paper bag shorts! Just like the comfort and dressinessability (I just made that word up) of a skirt with the coverage of shorts. Great look and I have been longing for this trench vest since last year.

    1. Thank you love! I'm so jealous. I'd love to be in South Africa right now, even though it's winter. I do a lot of running. I also take power plate and core fusion classes occasionally. I think running regularly helps me the most though.
