If
you follow me on twitter, you might've noticed that I spent most of this
weekend watching old movies on Netflix. Truth be told, I spend a portion of
every weekend watching old movies on Netflix. I really can’t get enough of
movies like Carmen, Pinky and Imitation of Life. I’ve watched them a million times since I was a
little girl and still can’t pass up a chance to watch them over and over again. Some of that has to do with the fact that my
mom is obsessed with these movies and I have great memories of mommy and me
classic movie nights. But some of it is simply because the outfits in these old
movies are absolutely stunning. One of my all-time favorite looks is Liz
Taylor’s khaki pencil skirt, beige button down, and red belt ensemble in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Although I have
major issues with the setting and social context of the movie, I must admit
that I LOVE this outfit. So much so, that I decided to wear an updated version
of the look for a dinner date with the hubs. There’s something about this mix
of colors that always has, and probably always will, scream chic. After all,
classic never goes out of style.
