Today's going to be a pretty wild day at the office courtesy of my two latest animal print acquisitions. Both are currently on sale at J. Crew and both are amazingly versatile prints that will work well into my work wardrobe and beyond. Though both pieces are beauties on their own, they're absolutely breathtaking when worn together. I love the way the prints play off of each other and the sheer fun of wearing (almost) head-to-toe animal prints to work.
Wearing outfits like this to my conservative j-o-b is my teeny tiny intsy wintsy way of rebelling against my organization's dress code while still keeping my job :). Here are a couple of guidelines to follow if your planning on waging your own miniscule rebellion or if your workplace is cool enough to handle a little print mix.
- I only mix prints when the coast is clear. If I'm anticipating client visits, employee meetings, presentations etc., I stay away from mixing prints and steer towards something more traditional.
- I only mix prints that share a similar color or pattern. Similar colors or patterns help tie the two pieces together and lead to a more cohesive and work appropriate look.
- I trust my eye. If I look in the mirror and I don't like the mixture of prints, then I don't wear it. Above all, I always try to wear what I love and love what I wear.
This look is perfection!

ReplyDeleteLol you are right--this is daring for a lawyer but I love it. Gives me inspiration for post-bar clothing
ReplyDeleteVery cute honeey! I love being rebellious and mixing up patterns, unexpected colors and textures but I agree with you, when you work in a more conservative environment, mixing patterns requires a little more reserve, but it definitely can be done...You nailed it! :-)
