Carnival Time in the M-I-A

Hey Lovelies,

This past weekend was Carnival weekend in Miami and it definitely did not disappoint. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Carnival – picture this: hordes of people from most of the Caribbean islands, waving their island’s flag, dancing to Soca music, and drinking the night away.  Since Carnival is a pretty informal event, I spent most of the weekend in jeans and tank tops. Of course, I had to add a little bit of ‘Jillian’ to my outfits by playing up my accessories and adding a lightweight layer here and there.
I wore this outfit to an indoor Carnival party at a friend’s house.  Since I knew there’d be lots of drinks flowing (and spilling lol), I kept it pretty simple (and spill-proof) with this almost all black everything ensemble. To be honest, 20 minutes after arriving to the party, the jacket was gone, my shoes were piled in a corner and the hubs and I were dancing the night away. It’s the entrance that counts, right? Ending the night barefoot and dripping with sweat is always a sign of a great Carnival party! How did you guys spend your weekend?

xoxo
Jillian

  4. Love the simplicity of the outfit. I bet an accessory from ww.zyafelix.com would have made an awesome statement.. especially at a carnival.

  9. I feel like such a bad islander, I didn't even know there was a carnival happening until I went to try out a new Trini place near me and all the guys at the bar were asking me where I was going to be partying. So funny. I love that vest and that you kept it low key and had tons of fun.
