Mara Hoffman at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim

When I'm  not chained away at a desk somewhere, you can probably find me in someone's restaurant, or on someone's beach. So, it's no shock that when I got an invite to the Mara Hoffman show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim, I jumped at the chance. In addition to seeing the show, I also got a chance to go backstage and catch a glimpse of the intense preparation that goes on behind the scenes. This was my first fashion show, so it was really amazing to see the organized chaos and the beauty that resulted from it all.

For most of us working gals, the work bag is definitely the ugly stepchild of our handbag collections. Our work bags get absolutely no love! We plop them on the floor or stuff them in a drawer while we work. Then, we ram them full of any and everything imagineable after work. And, when it's time to paint the town red, we never ever take them along for the ride.

Because the 'work bag' is the work horse of our collections, it's easy to neglect them. But, when you sit and think about how much you actually use your work bag, and the number of people that see you toting around your 'work bag', it makes sense to invest in one that's as chic as you are.

For me, a work bag needs to be three things:

NuSophisticate Travels: Cancun and Riviera Maya in Mexico

1.    Pool at the Ritz-Carlton, Cancun
2.    BCBG dress I wore for our wedding rehearsal dinner and, now, for our one year anniversary dinner
3.    Beautiful chandeliers lining the main floor of the Ritz-Carlton, Cancun
4.    Big hat + my sheer Zara dress worn as a cover-up. There's really no need to buy a cover-up. Instead, find a crochet blouse or sheer dress and make it work.
5.    Poolside at the JW Marriott Cancun
